Patrick McGoohan, Disney's "Dr. Syn," Passes Away

Patrick McGoohan, whose Disney TV series DR. SYN: THE SCARECROW OF ROMNEY MARSH was released on DVD this fall to the delight of Disney enthusiasts, has passed away at the age of 80.

Amazon currently appears to be sold out of this Disney Treasures set, mere weeks after its release. The show was a great hit with my children, who applauded at the end of their first episode.

McGoohan also starred in Disney's theatrical film THE THREE LIVES OF THOMASINA in 1964.

McGoohan's best-known TV work includes THE PRISONER, SECRET AGENT, and Emmy-winning guest roles on COLUMBO.

Update: Here's a brief tribute from the new Big Hollywood site. I didn't realize McGoohan was in BRAVEHEART. And how lovely to read that, like Ricardo Montalban, McGoohan was married to the same woman for many decades.
